           A note about breeding rights.

I get asked about breeding rights frequently so I want to address a couple things to hopefully only get inquiries I may work with. Generally speaking, I have no interest in giving full rights on my pups. So, if you find yourself wanting this from my program, you are going to need to work for it and prove yourself.

  1. Photos of your setup

  2. Stance on health testing

  3. Stance on appropriate age to breed the first time.

  4. Stance on breeding rights on the pups you produce.

  5. How do you plan to prevent unplanned litters?

  6. Why do you want one of my pups?

  7. Be prepared to wait - I need to know you’re in for the long haul.

  8. I do NOT give rights on Phoenix’s pups.

  9. Any pup/dog with full rights MUST be OFA certified before ever being bred.

  10. Females will NOT be bred before their 2nd birthday, males before 10 months, and only if he is preliminary OFA certified.

  11. I give out rights for two reasons: 1st, so I can preserve my lines without keeping pups from every litter/knowing I have pups out there that I can get a pup from in case something unexpected happens to a parent; 2nd, to help other breeders get health tested Malamutes.

  12. If you have an issue with even one of these things, please do not reach out.

•I have poured 20 years of blood, sweat, and tears into my dogs; I take full rights very seriously and am EXTREMELY selective.

Why do I require all this? In the couple years I’ve been doing this solo, two breeders that were acquaintances had their dogs seized on animal neglect and horrible conditions. Three others that I had tentatively agreed to work with completely stepped away from breeding and re-homed all their dogs. The breeding world is full of people breeding un-health tested and very underage dogs, as well as never giving their momma dogs a break between litters and breeding them until close to seniorhood. So, I find it incredibly difficult to work with people I don't know very well.
